Is that all there is - to being a politician?

Paraphrasing Peggy Lee*.

Dizzy Thinks posts on an early day motion submitted by Jo Swinson (PPS to Vince Cable - and don't they just deserve each other?) regarding the public attitude to short people. It is recognised that this might just be a 'Parliamentary Shot Across The Bows of John Bercow' in view of his wish to increase the budget of his personal office, but one has to ask whether this is the best use of parliamentary procedures.

When considering all the problems this country faces (and space prohibits listing them all) for an MP, who as a PPS is therefore aspiring to higher office, surely it is not unreasonable to ask that they put their time to better use?

Just asking......................

EDMs rarely lead anywhere despite costing roughly £300 each.

"EDMs allow MPs to draw attention to an event or cause. MPs register their support by signing individual motions".

EDMs are nothing but toys & diversions for MPs. A few are useful but most are not.
Also this, this and this.

I'm sorry for all the links, Mr W but, essentially EDMs are just a showboat for MPs.

No apologies necessary GV, but that was exactly my point......

I know - sorry but I couldn't help reinforcing it and ramming it home.

GV: Will you please stop saying 'sorry'? Otherwise the words 'knee' and 'over' may have to be used....... :)
