The political mindset

A request was submitted to a certain County Council in respect of actions taken, including virements within  their overall budgets. In answer to the question whether any consultation had been held with the electorate in arriving at the decisions made, the Leader of the County Council concerned wrote:

"No formal consultation was undertaken with the electorate . The members of the Council are elected to represent their views."

Illustrating the endemic problem amongst the political elite, both locally and nationally.

The bad grammar, used in the reply, also reveals the truth.

But of course they don't represent the electorate's views. They represent what they believe the electorate's views should be. (unles they are too busy troughing of course because that always takes priority)

W42: But they dont even represent what they think is the electorate's views - they do what they want to do and comply with their party doctrine!
