And just whose fault is it?

"The most important part of education is proper training in the nursery." Plato
"I had a terrible education. I attended a school for emotionally disturbed teachers."
Woody Allen

"The maxim about children being seen and not heard has vanished forever......"; so writes Michael Simkins in today's Sunday Telegraph, lamenting on the precociousness of children today. At whose door can be laid the blame for this? Well, lets see - and in no particular order:

The leftie-do-good brigade; the politically-correct brigade; the social-engineering brigade amongst our politcal elite; the human rights brigade; the dumbing-down of our education system brigade; the everyone-must-have-prizes brigade; the health 'n safety brigade; the lowering of teaching standards and teachers brigade; the removal of corporal punishment brigade; the parents who are, themselves, still children brigade; the thou-shalt-not-smack-the-little-brat brigade; the removal of - and thereby the fear of - the village bobby brigade; and lastly, the its-not-my-fault-I'm-just-a-parent brigade.

Just thinking..................

Common Purpose - The Fifth Column or as Ma Thatcher would have it : 'The enemy within.'

I totally agree. Children are not born with manners, respect or knowledge. I taught mine as they grew up and if a smack on the leg was needed, I smacked them.

My daughter unfortunately, is too scared to smack her kids incase they say something at nursery and she gets into trouble. Consequently, (and I do love my grandchildren with a passion) they are not as disciplined as mine were.

The Stasi have stolen our children from us and whinge when they misbehave and blame the parents. If they want model citizens, they must let parents carry out punishments that befit the "crime".

Time out, sit on the step and bribery don't bloody work!

The pride brigade too. I'm dumb and I'm proud. I slow up everyone else's learning and I'm proud. I be stupid and I be proud. I act violently and I'm proud. I sponge off the taxpayer and am proud. And all that pride gets put up on a pedastol, honour the diversity you see. Dishonour the individual achiever. It's the pride in being something in the past was nothing to brag about, but nowadays it is.

Change the language to change the thoughts. The first thing was to refer to children as "kids". The rest, as they say, is history.
