If ever the above subject was in doubt then this post on a recent discussion of whether the left or right have the better looking politicians must be the final proof.
With all the problems facing our country - no navy, no air force, an inefficient health service, an education system that isn't, a police service governed by an unelected cabal, a government that is no more than an administrative centre - a discussion over which ideology has the most attractive politicians is worthy of debate?
Anyway, how can the discussion even be considered valid, when we have elected politicians who all belong to parties that are all of the centre-left ideology? How does one differentiate between the ideology of a left-leaning robot and a right-leaning robot?
Mind you, when we have mindless representatives elected by a mindless electorate, is it any wonder our nation is in the state it is?

WfW, do you think there is even a remote possibility that our armed forces would/could organise a coup d'etat on our behalf? If the heathens in the arab world can do it, why shouldn't we? Unfortunately, I don't know anyone in the armed forces, so I don't know how they collectively feel about what is being done to our country.
jic: In answer to your question, I know not - although it is an intriguing one.
What is even more ingtriguing is whether there were a revolution involving hundreds of thousands of people, would the army if called out fire on their own people.
Neither could I see our police doing that, which would probably mean the EU 'coming in'.
If the EU gendarmie force did, would our police and army stand by whilst the EU gendamarie did?

And they say Libya has problems.
Put like this it is impossible to escape the conclusion the political class has utterly failed OUR country and has to be swept away rather quickly.
WfW, I can see the police firing on us. I think there have been too many instances over the past years where the police have killed people without justification and there have been no repercussions. The army on the other hand - I have a hope that they are more aligned to us, the people, than to their political masters.
And yes, I too am fearful that once the EU armed forces (including the police) are in place, they will be used against us at some stage. And no, I don't think the army or the police will do anything to stop them. That's why, I suppose, I was contemplating the possibility of a coup before the EU makes it impossible.
I believe that sooner or later a small thing, probably something that most days would go unnoticed will trigger something in our society and all hell will be let loose. Whether for good or bad I don't know, but I doubt the left and their dreams of leading a workers revolt will come to fruition. I suspect a lot of them and the politicians, churchmen, islamic extremists etc will be hung from the lampposts. Along unfortunately with a lot of innocents too.
One day, these people are going to answer for what they've done ... in full.

Good post WfW, I had exactly the same thoughts when I read that. Politics is being debased to the level of the X-Factor
That is not entirely the electorates fault though. Like TV executives who think all programmes have to be dumbed down to gain audiences, dramas like Downton Abbey and Life on Mars show that intelligent well crafted programmes can pull in the audiences.
In short arrogant TV executives and politicians take the easy way out and patronise us - which accounts for the largest party in British politics - the apathy one.
