From a youtube video, extracts from the Maggietollah's speech at The Hague, 1992:
"If the European Community proceeds in the direction which the majority of Member States and the Commission seem to want, they will create a structure that brings insecurity, unemployment, national resentment and ethnic conflict......Such a body is even more a Utopian enterprise than the Tower of Babel, for at least the builders of Babel all spoke the same language when they began."
Oh that we had a Prime Minister who, attending a Heads of State meeting in Brussels could repeat, once again, the words of the Maggietollah:
"Mr. Chairman, you have invited me to speak on the subject of Britain and Europe. Perhaps I should congratulate you on your courage.....it must be rather like inviting Genghis Khan to speak on the values of peaceful coexistence."Unfortunately the only qualification Cameron appears to possess is that of a Eunuch, presumably in order to perform a specific social function!

I'm not sure the epithet Maggietollah is appropriate. I'd hate to think she has anything in common with a muslim. She is an exceptional person and we can only thank God that we had her in the '80s. If only we had her now because our country cries out for a leader who fights for our rights and not those of just about everyone else. Mr Cameron has to be judged by his actions and I'm afraid he is found wanting. That goes for Mr Hague also. Where is King Arthur when you need him.
jic: The term 'Maggietollah' is used as a term of affection on my part, in that she 'ruled' her cabinet with a 'rod of iron'.
Think about it........?
As much as I admired Thatcher, WfW, I feel that the helpless situation that we find ourselves in regarding the EU was not helped by her.
Utilities - foreign owned, coal and steel - closed down, and, to my mind most damaging of all, is the division between North and South.
But yes - we need someone like her - someone with some, if you know what I mean.
Our present Parliament is full of pygmies.
W42: Acknowledge that Maggie had her faults, but as you say.......
