Words to ponder

It has been a relatively quiet day, even PMQs remained the meaningless side-show it has become, so in order to exercise readers minds the following quotations are submitted, quotations that are relevant today and to the ills that affect our once-great nation.

The state calls its own violence law, but that of the individual crime.

Where morality is present, laws are unnecessary. Without morality, laws are unenforceable

It is easy to be conspicuously “compassionate” if others are being forced to pay the cost.

The next revolution will be when those who work refuse to support those who don’t.

Expecting the government to fight the deficit is like expecting the Mafia to fight crime.

To be governed is to be watched, inspected, directed, indoctrinated, numbered, estimated, regulated, commanded, controlled, law-driven, preached at, spied upon, censured, checked, valued, enrolled – by creatures who have neither the right, nor the wisdom, nor the virtue to do so.

I’d rather live free with some peril than be a protected slave of government.

The supply of government exceeds the demand.

Ask not what you can do for your country; ask what your government is doing to you.

A little government involvement is just as dangerous as big government involvement – because the first leads inevitably to the second.

"Conspicuously compassionate" yes, very easy with other peoples money. I have always labelled this behaviour the "Dianne Syndrome"

"conspicuously compassionate" is fine if some one else is footing the bill. I have always called this type of behaviour the "Dianne syndrome".

A & JH: An echo or one and the same?

Agreed, I was of course referring to foreign aid being paid as against that money being spent on our 'needy'.

This design is very good and all the point! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Fantastic job.
