Oh the hyprocisy!

Responding on twitter to a comment to my preceding post, the comment bemoaning the lack of a Churchill-esque figure within the Conservative Party, I responded that two individuals, namely Hannan & Carswell, try to align themselves as filling that gap but that they appear to have omitted the "Churchill" bit.

Sure enough we have Douglas Carswell posting in response to the Conservative Home 'spin' and welcoming the views of these supposed Eurosceptics - the very people who were against the 'reckless' motion that Carswell supported. Posting that it makes it all the better to see Members of Parliament demanding a radical overhaul of our approach to Europe – and, let it be whispered softly, perhaps even some kind of meaningful democratic oversight over Britain’s EU deal making, really does beg the question of who, or what, is Douglas Carswell?

What these fourteen Conservative MPs are requesting is far from a radical overhaul of our approach to the EU and the last thing any true Briton wants is some kind of meaningful democratic oversight of that organisation. The only message that any true Eurosceptic has is a simple one: WE WANT OUT!

But then perhaps Douglas Carswell is no more than a Campoodle in wolf's clothing.........

Frankly, I don't trust them - they seem all wind.

If the House wanted out of the EU, they could simply vote out the EU accession treaty. Period. Over. But they don't, as most of them are hoping for a well paid sinecure in Brussells or just staying on at Westminster.

Therefore, when we are out of the EU, present MPs should be barred from another stint in the Free parliament. It has to start clean from any Quisling taint.

DP111: Agreed, although I would except those who have consistently voted against EU measures - which would include Carswell. That may seem like a contradiction to my post, however that was written in an attempt to provoke a response from him - which to date is not forthcoming.
