On 7th September 2009 I posted about GovNet Communictions, noting that two then MPs had received payments from this organisation even though the latest returns to Companies House showed GovNet Communications to be a dormant organisation.
A comment has just appeared on this post (approximately 45 minutes ago):
"As a serving borough councillor I am bombarded by e mails from Partnership Media Group / Gov Net inviting me to all sorts of conferences & events (at considerable cost).
In these financially difficult times for local authorities I wonder how much public money is being pi**ed away sending Councillors and Council Officers to these local government jollies?"
Returning to the Companies House website we find that the last returns continue to show GovNet Communications dormant.
Well they can't be dormant with this lot planned.........

Very suspicious, wonder if any answers can be found.
QM: Well a FOI to my County and District Councils asking how many gone on GovNet AND other similar courses should do the trick......
Perhaps other commenters may like to do likewise?
Check out http://www.govnet.co.uk/disclaimer/additional-company-information, the company is Partnership Media Group Ltd
Er why does my post say 11'.58? It was 7.58 in the UK last time I checked

Anon Which is why I posted the updateand yes I know of the alternative name under which they trade.
Re timing: a vagary of blogger! Noticed this before, don't know and can't be @rsed to find out....... :(
Govnet Communications Limited is the trading name of Partnership Media Group Limited, registered in England & Wales, company number 03307092.
To be clear it's using Govnet etc as a trading name don't think it's a big deal as it's (correctly) disclosed on the website. having a trading name while running a biz under another Ltd co isn't particlaulry uncommon.
Now, looking at http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/75c08949cfda14c44778732f66ae29cb/wcprodorder?ft=1
Who is Joanne Walsh?

Anon: Appreciate that, but it is still wrong where public services are involved. deception?
I know about Joanne Walsh - will be following this and her up.......
They also trade as "Inside Government"
Anon: Yup, another nome de plume...
I work in IT in the public sector.
Since attending an environmental conference a year ago, organised by my trade union, I have received regular invitations from govnet to attend their conferences. I've always considered them to be at best annoying spam but I've never been at all confident the event even exists and it's not just someone trying to steal credit card details. Their whole approach comes over somehow untrustworthy.
Witney,
Any more news on Govnet?
