Whaaat?!

It would appear from this report that MPs are suggesting that those of us who enjoy the 'fruits of the vine' or 'the hops from the fields' should have two 'dry days' a week.

What rings the proverbial alarm bell is when one reads that "few people understand what constitutes an alcoholic unit, the basis of the drinking advice, and tell ministers that the guidelines do not seem to change behaviour."

And we all know what follows when guidelines don't change behaviour, don't we?

Any MP that tells me that I need two 'dry days' a week will promptly be introduced to a lamp post - his feet won't touch the ground!

The first thing they can do is publish, honestly (ha!) their own drinking patterns. And of course, who paid for their consumption. Let those without sin cast the first stone.

Considering that alcohol units and safe drinking levels were a totally made up and fabricated myth to begin with, it is hardly a surprising continuation.

Lets begin with the enforced closure of all Parliamentary Bars for 2 days a week, Wednesday/Thursday sound good. (there's no-one there on Fridays).

Of course we don't understand an 'alcoholic unit'. It's simply a fantasy measurement with absolutely no meaning.

There are 26 units in a bottle (75cl) of vodka (37.5%) ie you can get pissed for just over twenty four hours. Simples.

You must understand WfW, that without the proper advice, ordinary folk should not be allowed to become a burden on the state… a drain on the NHS…

Concessions, like drinking alcoholic beverages (very dangerous), and smoking tobacco (lethal) need to be reserved only for responsible citizens, like those in HM prisons or those using HM private parliamentary bars.

We don't want no scum 'round here… How very dare you!

The US Navy is dry. I tend to think The Palace of Westminster should be dry.

Yes, but that does not indicate what they are.
Can one unit dicombobulate 1000 brain cells for an hour or is it the quantity of alcohol needed to create one standard nagging headache the following morning.

I think then, that comments so far are agreed it is definitely lamp post time!

I would also add to TT's comment that the Palace of Westminster should be dry by adding 'up' to the last word!
