Kippered

"So, how do you set up something to fail? Particularly when it's about the erosion of British sovereignty by European courts? Well if you stuff it with EUrophiles and then bar it from considering whether Britain should withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights, you can pretty much guarantee its failure or deadlock."
linking to this story in the Mail which reports that the Commission on formulating a British Bill of Rights has been 'rigged' by its terms of reference. This must come as no surprise where the Coalition 'agreement' (the manifesto on which no-one was given the opportunity of voting for or against) is concerned as it does state (page 11):
"We will establish a Commission to investigate the creation of a British Bill of Rights that incorporates and builds on all our obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights, ensures that these rights continue to be enshrined in British law, and protects and extends British liberties. We will seek to promote a better understanding of the true scope of these obligations and liberties."
so AQM should not be too surprised at the membership of this commission, nor its terms of reference. However what this does show is the control that our political elite intend maintaining over us as wherever one looks in the Coalition 'manifesto' just about every 'freedom' that they intend to grant contains a caveat that it will, in one way or another, be controlled by government - and if it does not, then subsequent announcements show that it does. Witness the re-call system and local referenda announcements!

Just how much longer will the British electorate accept the political dictatorship under which we presently live? Ministers behave like 'tin-pot' rulers, issuing their 'thoughts' on the future of our country - witness the statement tonight, via the Guardian, that Chris Huhne believes while he still backs government's 'three-pronged' energy approach, Fukushima could make nuclear unviable. Disbanding any nuclear energy option will only result in yet more public and taxpayer's money being used to fund the unachievable dream of renewable energy. As it is our money that is involved here should the people not be the judge of that, Mr. Huhne?

Only today, OneWorld reports:
"In a speech at Conservative Headquarters in Victoria Street on Monday David Cameron called for the Royal Prerogatives to be reformed. The powers that technically belong to the Queen, but which in reality are exercised by Ministers, have allowed the Prime Minister in the past to take the country to war or to sign far-reaching treaties, such as Maastricht, without a debate or vote in Parliament."
a belief which kind of knocks a hole in his agreement that, on his word, we are now trying to knock the proverbial seven bells out of Libya.

Where the stated devolution of power is discussed, or promised, by our political elite, we are in the words of Douglas Carswell in the Mail article, well and truly sewn up like a kipper.

I know that successive governments have gradually whittled away at our rights under common law and habeas corpus - but these things are still there WfW.

Surely, if they wish to bring in an official Bill of Rights they have to first recognise this and somehow do away with them.

To do away with them they have to recognise that they are in being.

Unless these stinking traitors are going to put this through without a referendum, it seems to me that they are opening a pandoras box for themselves.

Are IEDs in Brussels justified ? Will rebels in English strongholds get air support from other sovereign states ?

Is the political system at the end ? If Osborne tries to sell off public services under GATS of WTO is violent uprising acceptable ?

Just who does the Conservative Party belong to ? City interests ?

Why is the public being extorted to enrich banks to the point of selling public services to those banks ?
