Some "quirky news" from Romania:
"Facilities at Oradea Zoo do not meet EU standards and officials have now passed on a European Commission ruling ordering zoo management to make sure no new animals arrive until things improve."
From Hansard 20??:
Statement by the CEO of EU Region UK:
"The situation in our region, in regard to compliance by the people, does not meet EU standards and the Commission have ordered that we ensure no increase in our population is made, through the process of procreation, until we have improved said standards. Therefore all citizens are required to attend sterilization clinics forthwith, the process being reversible when circumstances allow."
Far-fetched? I can but refer readers to the heading of this post. After all, are we not already treated like animals cattle?

Cold, clinical, calculated, mechanical, dictatorial rule by nameless, faceless bureaucrat - that's EU. Of course it will happen on the path it is moving. Hitler won, not even a shot fired.
A: Glad someone else seems to have a little foresight! Unfettered power knows no limits, as history has demonstrated
Chilling stuff and not far-fetched. Without formal controls, bureaucratic power will be abused step by incremental step, simply because the bureaucracy decides what the next step will be.
The EU has no such controls.
So if current trends continue, then the day will come when this blog is illegal – and this comment too.
T: Ah another in the fold......
All points you make are unfortunately 'sound' points and as such very true.
Sorry but that does sound far-fetched to me. And I don't think any opponents of the EU should make comparisons with Hitler or the Nazis. I don't believe the comparisons are necessarily unfair, but that it undermines our case by making us sound hyperbolic.
We need to be calm, rational but utterly vengeful and very slowly build our case until a majority of people in this country are prepared to do anything to change the status quo, whether that's refusing to pay tax or ripping the throats out of MPs and EU Commissioners.
bp: If you or anyone else had said that a supposed democratic assembly would agree to change our country and society without the permission of the people, I too would have said such an idea was far-fetched. If they can do that, they can do anything!
You may well be right, but I think the last part of your comment will be what happens.
And who said "Britains never, never shall be slaves"? We are certainly getting too close for comfort.
d.b1: We are indeed too close for comfort - we are almost at the precipice.........
