Speaking of being proud of politicians, here's an update from the states. The Wisconsin legislature passed and Governor signed the controversial bill. He was only able to do so after the the budget/financial parts of the bill were removed (that way it could pass even without the necessary quorum of 20 senators), but the public employees lost most of their collective bargaining rights. He did what he was elected to do.
Leftist moron, Michael Moore was saying that the US and Wisconsin aren't broke. 14 tril in debt? Of course we're not broke.
JH: True, although from my experience, prior to the original Mini the Woody was one of very few reliable British Cars. Having said that my Father had an old Austin Somerset out in West Africa which survived their abysmal roads!

I can't see one of these without remembering Barry Humphries (in hise Dame Edna Everage persona) rhapsodising about how lovely England was with its quaint half-timbered houses and then adding "O look! There's a quaint half-timbered car!"
The Moggy Minor estate is one of a handful of cars which can fail the MOT due to woodworm...
My first employer gave me an old Minor van to start off with, it was due to be scrapped but my HA Viva was delayed....
I had a job seeing out of it, due to the high dashboard, but it was great fun to drive with no power assisted anything or computers. It did let me down 3 times - the electric fuel pump packed up, but a well aimed thwack from a hammer go it going again. The second time the hammer trick didn't work, so I took the cover off, removed the contact points, and cleaned them on a kerb stone! The last failure turned out to be a blocked vent in the petrol filler cap...

To all commenters: How it happened I know not, but nourishing obscurity reminds me of the Healy 3000. Now that too was a car and a half - how I could forget it is beyond me, especially as I owned one once!
Awfful car, badly built, useless brakes and heater, stopped in deep puddles, as did minis and the wheels used to fall off, as did all BL cars, good steering, but bad handling and great on fuel.. Comlicated to restore properly and for modern roads a brake upgrade is a must.
