And we wonder why our country has "gone to the dogs"?

Get caught slightly over the limit in a 30mph speed area and it is an automatic £60 fine and 3 points on your licence or an "awareness course" and, I believe, nul points. Show disrespect to the country in which you live and from whom you receive benefits and the fine is £50.

Emdadur Choudhury, a Muslim extremist received the paltry fine of £50 for burning poppies on Armistice Day and chanting anti-British slogans. What is more surprising is that Choudhury could have been charged with far more serious offences carrying far stiffer penalties - but was not.

The question has to be asked just who made the decision to prosecute with the lower offence? And Why? Just who in the Crown Prosecution Service made this decision? Has what may be termed a mis-carriage of justice been raised by any of our 'honourable' elected representatives? Why not?

And we are supposed to respect the law; respect our politicians; respect the human rights of those who choose to disrespect our traditions and customs; respect those who choose to "thumb their noses" at the country that houses, feeds and protects them?

Well the next time one of the political elite, CPS or those in the legal profession who sit in judgement are attending a family memorial event do let me know and a few of us will turn up and show our disrespect - that should result in the "roof falling in"!

How ironic that today in Parliament our political elite were debating the lack of democracy and rule of law in Libya, yet in their own country, those two processes are disintegrating under their very noses!

I've left a message on their website. Probably not going to be taken with the spirit with which it was intended. The police frighten the life out of me; that's not how it's supposed to be, is it?

As Roger Thornhill just tweeted:

"Muslim poppy burner punishment should be same as for burning Koran on Mohd's birthday. £50 it is, then."

@John - totally agree. I remember the Devil's Kitchen asking a year or two ago how you would know if you were in a police state or not. You just ask yourself how you would feel if you were stopped by the police for no apparent reason on a dark country lane.

The website of the poppy burners apparently think the EDL should be fined £5000 for flying (yes just flying) the flag of Israel at their demo's. Incidentally the leader of the EDL who leapt the fence to try and stop them burning the poppy was re-arrested after the initial charges were dropped and will be in court on the 25th of July.
Wonder what fine he'll get.

I think it was Alexander the Great who required his soldiers to shave off their beards, so that they could not be grabbed during battle. Just a thought for when war breaks out with the muslims in our country.

jic: feel police not only ones to blame.

K: have been so stopped. When pc repeated my answer I pointed out that it was funny how remarks echoed in open country. He soon left!

QM: Well if equality is the name of the game, he shud get off!

jic: Heh! :)

Could it be the authorities are encouraging resentment? That when the final nail is hammered into the British public and they 'turn', the public themselves will be responsible for 'sorting out the Muslim problem' - and government will claim they did all they could to prevent it?

A: Good point but don't think politicos will live that long!

If you on twitter follow VColumn - something is afoot!

The Bureaucracy is not prepared to rise to any provocation from Muslim trouble-makers - it did not do so in 1987 when Satanic Verses was burned in Bradford - and simply enters a plea of "nolo contendere" punishing anyone who fails to leave Muslim provocateurs in peace.

Do you really believe MI5 cannot crop photos in the case of 7/7 ?

Also believe 'they' can do any damn thing they like!

I fail to understand why it should be punishable at all. If we construct a symbol of something we believe to be good we should expect others to have a different opinion and want to destroy it.

This should be a part of libertarianism. It does nobody harm to burn a hundred poppies and it does nobody harm to burn a hundred Koran's.

The harm done is how people respond to the act, often with violence, and we should concentrate our efforts on those who might wish to respond with violence not those who we perceive to "incite" violence.

Something has gone horribly wrong with society when we seek to punish such acts and when society itself will condone the punishment of the agrieved rather than the agressor.

A: then this is where you and I part company! When someone stays in my home they respect my way of life, my traditions If they can't, especially when I am paying for their existence, then they can damn well sod off and find someone else to house, cloth and feed them! The same rules apply to immigrant coming to live in this country, regardless of their ethnicity!

You break my laws, you offend my symbols be that a poppy or my flag and you most definitely pay a price!

Their is libertarianism and there is libertarianism and my libertarianism does not include bending over or turning the other cheek!
