And Ukip is a 'Libertarian' party?

On reading this post on Independence Home I posted a comment that stated the content of that post was 'a load of spheroids" and referred them to my post here.

If one claims to be 'libertarian' then surely one of the basic concepts of that creed should be that of free speech, however disliked the opinion may be. In defense of that statement I can but quote Voltaire: "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

The moderators of Independence Home may well be 'busy' however it has to be asked whether moderators should be 'monitoring' their sites if moderation is in force. Having posted my comment an hour ago, I believe it reasonable to expect that it should be visible.

Or perhaps Independence Home is like Conservative Home - censoring free speech? Or, God forbid, Tim Montgomerie is moonlighting as a moderator on Independence Home?

Just asking..................

it's Sunday, late evening - your assumptions appear to be unreasonable to me. The world does not need machine gun responsiveness. Check tomorrow and calm down - sheesh

I too have similar experience of the various UKIP comment sites...

The main (UKIP.ORG) site is the worst, I forget how useless it is... I (foolishly) make a comment and I have yet to see one appear.

Of course, as with all "party" sites there has to be moderation, there would be much mileage for the MSM if a commenter said "the wrong thing", but UKIP has to be at the nadir of party websites.

I still support UKIP, it is the only party that approaches my philosophy, but it is definitely best to avoid their forums.

Too many hangers and floggers, too much Daily Mail, too much control...

My resolve is being severely tested.

well I just posted a comment 3 minutes ago and it hasn't appeared on your site yet - is that signalling the end of my liberties?

maybe you have an issue with posting when the person isn't logged in - I logged in during the process of posting and then the comment didnt appear. However a subsequent one did - so I will try to remember what I said and recomment.

My earlier comment is something along the lines of:
right back at you WitteringsfromWitney - "get a life"? You posted a comment on an unofficial (repeat unofficial) UKIP site and then, because it wasn't displayed you rant that your liberties were being eroded and that UKIP is to blame (site is NOT an official UKIP site). You tell me on twitter that when my liberties are lost (I presume due to this unofficial site not posting your comment) then I have myself and UKIP to blame.

I repeat - get a life - there is more to life than worrying whether UKIP is posting your comment - get out, walk smell the roses and calm down

r_w: Glad I'm not the only one to have noticed what amounts to 'censorship'.......

o: Independence Home may be the unofficial home of Ukip, however it includes contributions from those in the heirachy. If, as it appears to, it support the party then perhaps it should not censor comments that it presumably does not like. At the time of writing 16:39 on 13th my comment still has not appeared.

Neither was my post about this a rant - you'll soon know when I do post a 'rant'! It was just a comment, no more, and illustrated a practice that would appear also to exist on Conservative Home.

I gave up visiting Independence Home yonks ago as new articles appear so rarely.

Having said that I will now go visit just to see whether there are any comments later than yours that did get published.

SO'H: they did,as you will see.

Oh well! Have you had a similar experience at http://bloggers4ukip.blogspot.com
?

WitteringsfromWitney said...

SO'H: I haven't posted there for nearly a year, if not longer. When I did it was with the status of 'immediate posting' facility.

It would seem that where I'm concerned, along with Ind Home sites like Con Home and the Telegraph insist on 'selectivity' where my contributions are concerned - hence I don't bother any more. I also don't bother any more at TalkCarswell..........
