a 'Gay' time to be had in Ireland?

Gay Byrne is a media personality, probably more well known and regarded with more affection in Ireland than his compatriot, Terry Wogan, is in Britain.

The Irish presidency is, of course, not an executive one. Its constitutional position is more like that of the Queen here. Still, it would be very interesting for Ireland to have a "Monarch" with such views, even though for a limited term of years.

Come to think of it, if the bad fairy ever landed us with a republic here, Sir Terry might be yer man for Pres. Otherwise we'd get someone like Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair, Michael Heseltine, Ken Clark or Leon Brittan - or, God forbid, even someone like Gordon Brown, Ed Miliband - even worse, David Cameron!

Just saying...............................
