Yet more 'TM' tosh......

On Conservative Home Tim Montgomerie offers yet more 'tosh' by choosing to highlight what he interprets as two "Eurosceptic" comments David Cameron has made in a forthcoming interview with James Forsyth and Fraser Nelson in The Spectator.

Cameron maintains that there is no-one more sceptical than him where the euro is concerned - something which may or may not be true, but he sure as hell is not where membership of the EU is concerned - whilst acknowledging that there probably isn't much the EU will not do to preserve their currency, but does not acknowledge that he is content to assist in their project by continuing; and increasing; their funding through the IMF.

If the eurozone will have to move ‘towards much more single economic government', then in view of recent announcements from the EU so will those countries who are not in the eurozone. For Cameron to then maintain that there will be the opportunity to renegotiate our membership, or as he puts it in the interview: "There will be opportunities for Britain to maximise what we want in terms of our engagement with Europe." is nothing but yet another example of deceit. Renegotiation of this country's relationship is one aspiration that Cameron had to drop as part of the price to form the Coalition - not to acknowledge that is, with hindight on my part, not just deceit but beneath contempt.

For Montgomerie to maintain Iain Martin's assessment that half the Tory party are "outers" and that Eustice's group - who want yet one more go at reform from within - are a sign of a shift of opinion shows just what a numpty Montgomerie is. It also shows that David Cameron and his MPs are, with a very few exceptions, not "Eurosceptic" - just "Europhile".

His output shows that Montgomerie is never going to make it in the journalistic world - which, come 2015, will probably mean he will be an MP! For Montgomerie's sake one can only hope that science has devised something that will remove the permanent brown stain from his nose!

Cameron's Eurosceptic behaviour is like asking a dog not to sniff another's dog's arse.

If only Comrade Stalin had known what Beria and Yezhov were up to he could have put a stop to it and we could all leave the Gulag.

Now how do we let Comrade Stalin know ?

That is basically the gist of your argument above.....

TT: True, very true.....

As Richard North points out, this is just Cameron getting panicky, as he senses that the coalition may fall apart in the near future, and he has to go to the people.

The only way we will accept a Eurosceptic Cameron, is if he makes a non-weasly commitment for a national referendum on the EU - usual political chicanery on this issue to lead to criminal prosecution.

DP111: And if Cameron did, even then I would not trust him!

It could be though that he may box himself into a corner at which point he has no option but to concede a referendum.
