Cyprus unification

The old, old problem of the unification of Cyprus rears it's head again, as reported by EurActiv in this article.

One quotation stands out a mile, from an article written by Yavuz Baydar, writing for the Turkish daily "Zaman":
"....... and society is to a large extent against unity."
Once again we see people's wishes about to be overridden by politicians. Plus ça change, plus c'est le même chose...............

Too many bad memories and property confiscation, it'll be a re-run of the "former" Yugoslavia.
But, hey, what do I know?

A: You may well be right about 'Yugoslavia' - I'd give that odd of something like 100/1.

You talk about property confiscation and bad memories. Can I refer you to: The Genocide Files by Harry Scott Gibbons (Express reporter stuck there for the entire troubles) - Well worth a read, if you can source a copy!

I hope to goodness Cyprus isn't unified. Northern Cyprus is a little gem - and safety ouside the Eurozone.
