So much for political principles - Cleggstyle

A good spot from Paul Waugh who tweets: "Clegg rails against 'brutal' Remploy factory closure...in 2007"

If nothing else brings home that our politicians are 'men (and women) of the moment' then this video does! They care nothing for those that vote for them and subsequently fund them; they care nothing about principle and honour; they care nothing about the country they are meant to safeguard; they care nothing about anything but themselves and their careers!

The sooner we, as a country, adopt direct democracy and referism the better and freer we will all be, as the Judas Goats amongst us will be castrated and we sheep will learn that we can think and decide matters for ourselves!

Can we discuss priorities?

It would seem the media, blogosphere and twitter are consumed by subjects that, when all is said and one, appear low on a ladder of importance.

It would appear that we are consumed with the relative opinion poll standings of three political parties when an election is not scheduled for another 3+ years; whether a certain banker should, or should not, receive a bonus; whether Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper are 'undermining' MilibandE; what MilibandD earns; whether there is NHS care at weekends; whether there should be public funding for political parties; whether Jeremy Hunt's 'business interests' are legit or not and present a conflict of interest; whether Cameron's poll ratings are better than MilibandE's; whether Clegg is, or is not, 'on-board' where the Coalition is concerned; whether there should be more women members of the cabinet; and whether Theresa May is, or is not, a fashion icon.

Is the foregoing really all the MSM can find to speculate about? Do they, who are supposed to bring 'news' to their readership/viewers, not have a duty to 'question' the motives and policies that our politicians pursue, while pointing out discrepancies and alternatives? How else are the people to be made aware of what is obviously an 'Armageddon' situation into which they are being led, both politically and economically?

People, there is no point in complaining about the state of our nation; about 'unacceptable' levels of immigration; about our society being changed beyond all recognition; about the decimation of our armed forces; about the failures in our health and education services, about the deficits/failures where law and order are concerned; about the venality of our political class, until you get off your butts and physically do something about it. It is utterly pointless, besides being a waste of your time and effort, complaining about such matters until a decision is made that it is necessary to change the cause of all these problems, namely those that inhabit Westminister, the bureaucracy and the media.

As I posted only yesterday, when you, the people - who act like sheep - are corralled to the extent that you have no personal liberties remaining; when your nation is no more than a region of an EU/World government; when that which you read and hear is controlled by politicians and bureaucrats; when your every thought, word and deed is no longer yours to choose, I will guarantee the loudest voices of complaint will be yours - at which point I would have to request you go look in a mirror and ask whose fault is the situation in which you find yourselves?

Its a question of priorities, people.........

Whilst this nation of ours is being sold down the one way street that leads to purgatory, it would appear from Twitter that people are more concerned about Sepp Blatter (in which country has the EU installed him as Head of State); 'Movember' (what ever the hell that is); 'occupying' parts of the country (the only part of the country that should be occupied is the Houses of Parliament); whether 47 is 'middle-aged' and 70 is 'elderly' (what does age matter if you still can); and who is on X-Factor (no MA note, just a load of BAs).

Oh Heavens! More Orwell

It has often been said of our politicians that it is about time they realized that George Orwell's work '1984' was just that, fiction - and not a damn instruction manual.

Politics Home reports that Theresa May, Home 'Secs' of State, is of the opinion that more intervention in people's lives is necessary and should be mandatory, enforced with a long-term programme.

Of course if Theresa May and her party really believed in devolution of power, thus leaving matters such as education, school discipline, law & order, to local communities, the problem would have been 'done and dusted' by now - she would not then need to worry her (I was going to use the word 'pretty') little head with such mundane matters - nor waste reams of public money.

Unlike the current head of the 'Animal Farm', who seems unable to accept his sheep have no more wool to give, one would have thought that at least the shepherdess would be aware that the flock are close to the point where they are not prepared to be 'rammed' anymore?

We've heard this all before

With the Conservative Party conference about to begin, Cameron hits the press with this piece in the Mail which can only be described as yet more political claptrap. The first bit of claptrap comes in his opening paragraph when he states his party will not be meeting to talk amongst themselves but to talk to the nation; yet of course that is exactly what the Conservative Party will do, as do Labour and the Liberal Democrats, whilst allowing the nation to listen in. He writes about the worries of every home in paying rising energy bills, yet who condones the continuance of those worries by his insistence of continued servitude to Brussels who sets the parameters by which energy bills continue to rise? He writes about laying the foundations for a solid future and that as we are not in the euro, that can be done on our terms. We may not be in the euro but we sure as hell are liable for future bail-out sums via the IMF until 2013 and we sure as hell are subject to economic oversight by the EU Commission, with further 'controls' in the pipeline. He also raises the red herring of immigration and the cost of welfare for those immigrants, conveniently omitting the fact that he cannot limit those from the EU and equally he is unable to stop those EU immigrants getting all the benefits of the welfare system.

In a separate article in the same newspaper we are informed that Cameron promises to slash red tape, although in Cameron's piece he does not explicity say that - which is probably just as well because we have heard that from him before here, and here and we are still waiting for it to happen, which it can't again due to EU membership. As Alex Brummer, This is Money, writes:
"Phrases like ‘ending the red tape’ of legislation which has tied business in knots, and a ‘bonfire of the quangos’ trip off the tongues of our politicians so very easily, and are a standard part of almost every speech made on business by prime ministers, business secretaries or chancellors."
Richard North, EU Referendum, 'fisks' Charles Moore's op-ed piece in today's Daily Telegraph, to which little can be added, other than the fact that all Cameron can do where the governance of this country is concerned is 'whistle in the dark'. I can but reiterate that which Richard North writes, that our democratic system is totally unfit for purpose and is rotten to the core both morally and financially. On this subject an interesting article appears in the Daily Telegraph by Graeme Archer; and one passage is worthy of note:

"....... but I’ve never believed the reductionist argument which says we cast our vote primarily for economic reasons. We vote because there’s something about society we want to see re-engineered. Conservatives feel let down, not because the deficit is being tackled, but because too much in society feels the same as it did before the election. They understand that Mr Cameron requires Lib Dem votes to retain his anti-Labour majority, and that being politically shackled to the decaying Lib Dem corpse prevents the introduction, in this parliament, of proper Tory measures – such as tackling the Human Rights Act."

We may well vote in the hope that society will be re-engineered, but it never is - at least not in the way people would like to see. It never will be either, whilst politicians can act as elected dictators and decide matters amongst themselves, consequently, under the present system of democracy, they are wasting their vote.

Reverting to the subject of claptrap, we get more of this from Philip Hammond who again is on his HS2 'hobbytrain' with this article - never heard of TEN-T then, Mr. Hammond? John Redwood posts on the government's plans where development of our rail network is concerned. That the "Delivery Plan" seems to have totally ignored the EU's intended legislation that the user pays and subsidies will not be allowed appears to have escaped their attention - and that of John Redwood. That the "Delivery Plan" reads like the old USSR Tractor Stats makes one wonder whether this document is Tract or Fiction?

We are indeed being led by our political elite like sheep to the slaughter - and still the people remain unaware. No doubt the lightbulb will come on just as the bolt to put them out of their misery is about to be fired into their brains.

Cameron guilty of breach of EU absolute ban on torture and ill-treatment?

So, David Cameron is to widen the Gibson Inquiry to consider torture of Libyans. As usual, Cameron continues to place the inhumane treatment of foreign people above those inflicted on his own.

Bearing in mind EU activities aimed at combating torture and degrading treatment, in which it is stated that:
"The absolute ban on torture and ill-treatment enshrined at international level in core UN human rights conventions is reflected at EU level in the Charter of Fundamental Rights, which states that ‘No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment’".
Is David Cameron not guilty of 'torture' and 'ill-treatment' as a result of his promises (cast-iron or otherwise) followed by subsequent 'U' turns that he has inflicted on the people of the United Kingdom? Have the people not been subjected to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment by our political elite since May 2010? And that is not to dismiss the period May 1997 - May 2010 either - so perhaps Blair and Brown should join Cameron in the dock?

And then I realise that we live in a democracy and they were elected to represent the people govern, rule and dictate how those people should speak, think and act.

The sooner the sheep cull the bloody shepherds, the better!
