She was no doubt recruited to be warehoused as a Conservative MP and ready to dispense contacts and contracts whenever possible.<br /><br />The seamless world of KPMG and PwC on privatisation and government work started with Thatcher; Deloittes has acquired enough specialist firms to get contracts no doubt in MoD etc.<br /><br />PA Consulting had a nice line under Heseltine and McKinsey did well with Norman Blackwell and William Hague.
